Parvez has been named in BusinessCloud’s Northern Leaders 2025 – a list of 200 people recognised for the difference they’ve made to the North of England.
He’s listed as director of Breaking Barriers, the Rochdale social enterprise giving a platform to underrepresented voices and communities. Also on the list: Figen Murray, whose campaigning led to Martyn’s Law; Lindsey Burrow; and Frank Rothwell of Oldham Athletic.
The list was whittled down from more than 500 nominations by a panel of judges alongside BusinessCloud’s executive editor Chris Maguire, and deliberately reaches past business into charity, sport, politics and the arts. It’s named in honour of the late Sir Howard Bernstein.
What matters to us about this one isn’t the individual recognition so much as where it points. Rochdale is a satellite town, and cultural funding has a habit of settling in the centre of Greater Manchester. Being on a regional list like this makes the case that serious creative work happens in the towns too.
Everyone named was invited to the awards dinner at KPMG’s Manchester offices in November.
