Salford Now previewed What About Me?, our immersive audio and visual experience in Parr Fold Park, Walkden.
The piece takes you around the park listening to hundreds of young people from Salford talking about where they live, where they play, where they feel safe, and where they want their lives to go. Their stories were brought to life through audio, film and photography – the tower blocks and streets of Salford transplanted into the park’s green space.
The walk ends at the bandstand, where sound, projection and voices come together in a picture of the city as its young people imagine it.
The project was commissioned by Salford Community Leisure and Greater Manchester Arts, funded through the GMCA Culture programme with additional support from Salford City Council’s Culture Team. That extra funding let us bring in six assistants who are either still studying or right at the start of their careers – which is the point of doing this work, not a side effect of it.
It ran over three nights in late October 2025, with three performances each evening.
