What we do

Our work is community-led, socially driven and creatively ambitious.

We believe the most powerful stories come from the people who live them, and that everyone deserves access to creative opportunities, platforms and careers.

We collaborate locally and nationally, bringing together communities, artists, residents and organisations, blending storytelling, technology and collaboration to challenge perceptions, spark connection and open up access to culture.

About Breaking Barriers

Laura Corscadden

Detective Chief Inspector, Thames Valley Police

I loved working with Breaking Barriers and found their approach truly inspiring. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a production company that combines exceptional creative talent with purpose, passion, and a commitment to making a real difference.

Rich Warburton

Creative Director, IOU Creation Centre & IOU Hostel, Hebden Bridge

Breaking Barriers are the perfect company for the world we live in. Intelligent, thoughtful, collaborative and inventive. They prove that inclusive art, in all its forms, can be ambitious, beautiful and genuinely transformative. They have the invention and creative va va voom to make the ordinary look extraordinary. I'd work with them again in a heartbeat, such curious co-creatives making brilliant work, anyone would. I take my hat off to Parvez, Jodie and the team and am thankful we share the same orbit!

Amy Whittlesea

Senior Cultural Development Manager, Hampshire Cultural Trust

It was a pleasure working with Breaking Barriers on Unlocked in Gosport. Their flexible, knowledgeable approach and thoughtful work with local artists resulted in an impactful film that genuinely captured young people’s voices and helped demonstrate the borough’s ambition for work with young people and on a larger scale.

Amy Townsend-Lowcock

Assistant Director, Mentee

Breaking Barriers has really supported my development as an artist. I have learned so much about how to produce high-quality, community arts events from Jodie and Parvez, and their long-term mentorship has helped me to thrive as a creative practitioner. “I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to work with Breaking Barriers. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for such an inspiring organisation. It’s so special to see an arts organisation prioritising artist development, community engagement, and creating cultural events with a big social impact.
