Young Companies
Rather than creating opportunities in isolation, we recruit emerging creatives from the communities where we are working and embed them directly into live productions. We call this our Young Company.
Working alongside our professional team, Young Company members gain hands-on experience across areas including production, filmmaking, photography, community engagement and event delivery.
This approach allows participants to build practical skills, develop professional networks and contribute to meaningful cultural projects while ensuring our work continues to be shaped by local voices.
Many of the artists we work with continue their creative journeys by returning to collaborate with us on future commissions and productions.

It was a pleasure working with Breaking Barriers on Unlocked in Gosport. Their flexible, knowledgeable approach and thoughtful work with local artists resulted in an impactful film that genuinely captured young people’s voices and helped demonstrate the borough’s ambition for work with young people and on a larger scale.
