About the project
Deeplish Voices for Health Equity was a community-led film commissioned as part of the CCG Health and Racial Inequalities programme, exploring the challenges of mental health within marginalised communities and the cultural stigmas that too often prevented people from seeking support.
Filmed at Rochdale AFC and Deeplish Community Centre, the film highlighted vital work being carried out by the voluntary sector in some of Rochdale’s most diverse communities. The project set out to celebrate people and organisations working quietly and consistently to improve health outcomes for those who faced the greatest barriers to accessing support.
The film was created to open up conversations that were often difficult to have, and to contribute to a broader effort to break down the cultural stigmas surrounding mental health that persisted within many communities.
