Breaking Barriers is bringing Stories We Tell: Rochdale back for one final night following a sell-out run as part of Greater Manchester’s Town of Culture 2025-26. The event takes place on Thursday 12 November 2026 at 7:30pm, and tickets are on sale now.
Stories We Tell: Rochdale is an immersive night walk through the town, weaving together binaural 3D audio, archival images and video, resident memories, window displays and projections to transform Rochdale’s streets into a living storybook. Co-created with local residents, artists and community organisations, the experience invites audiences to hear the town and the people who call it home in an entirely new way.
During its Town of Culture run in 2026, every performance sold out. The audience response was overwhelming: 94% said the event increased their pride in Rochdale, 99.25% agreed that Rochdale is rich in culture and history, and 99.4% said they would recommend Stories We Tell to others. The event also engaged 35 new volunteers from across the community, who played an integral role in welcoming audiences and bringing the experience to life.
Parvez Qadir, Artistic Director at Breaking Barriers, said:
“Stories We Tell: Rochdale exists because the stories of this town deserve to be heard. Every show selling out during the Greater Manchester Town of Culture programme showed us that people are hungry for experiences that reflect their lives, their histories and their community. We are thrilled to bring it back for one more night and welcome more people into that experience.”
The 12 November performance marks the final opportunity to see this iteration of Stories We Tell: Rochdale. Due to the sell-out nature of previous performances, audiences are strongly encouraged to book early.
